When are we going to get a sensible immigration policy?

Hi

As I post our congress is acting like a bunch of spoiled children. They are trying to pass so much in a lame duck session when they could have done this during the earlier part of their tenure.

This has a negative effect on the country and now I'd like to point out how it effects immigration policy.

The illegal immigration flow must first be stopped. We need to control our borders and who comes and who stays. N either political party has been willing to confront the problem so as a result the problem has grown into a major disaster. We must act both quickly and wisely to fix the situation.

All proposals to correct the problem will fail unless we write in a policy of enforcement against the employers who hire these illegals. This is a first step. At the same time we must control the flow of people at the borders. In my past posts I have spelled out my theory on how to fix the problem, this is only one of several ideas which should work. Please members of congress, do your job.

Please remember our service men and women and pray for them.

Summary of immigration

Hi

To recap my thoughts on how to fix illegal immigration here are the key points:

First, clamp down on abuse of student visas,
Next, tighten and secure our borders,
Next, pass legislation at the federal level to discourage illegal entry, i.e.-increase the act of entering the US illegally to a felony.
Next, set up a method of LEGAL immigration which is controlled by the United States,
Next, establish and enforce laws governing the hiring of illegal immigrants.

If these are adhered to the illegal aspect of immigration would disappear. Let's hope Congress has the integrity to act.

Keep our brave service people in your prayers.

Illegal immigration - continued

Hi

This post is going to be about the steps that can be taken to fix the illegal alien problem.

Under current law it is a misdemeanor to enter the United States illegally. This should be corrected by making it into a felony. By doing so the United States would send a message to other nations, "We are serious."

I am a firm believer in the use of what is referred to as the "tag up" system. It is a use of a term from baseball and it means that any one here already must go back to his )her) original country and reenter legally. By doing so we would alleviate the pressure on our border security and as a side effect there would be less stress on aliens who comply with the law. The tag up system would have to factor in some tweeks, i.e. - China, Cuba. These nations would not be open to having their citizens immigrate to America, so we would have to build in some protection. Congress should be able to work that out.

Another step that should be taken is to have immediate deportation of criminals. Let them serve their time in prison and then immediate deportation back to their native country.

If we were to implement these changes we would get the benefits of control over our borders and in addition there would be a serious dent in the illegal drugs crossing our borders. These are common sense fixes so the question is "Why haven't these fixes been done before?" Get politics out of our border security and let our government do some thing for the safety of us citizens. We deserve this.

Please continue to pray for our service men and women.

Illegal immigration

Hi

This post will be an extension of my posts about illegal immigration. I must point out that I am not against immigration, the contrary, we need immigrants to sustain our nation. We also need "controlled" immigration. Controller immigration means that the government has dominion and control over who and when immigrants are allowed to stay in the United States.

In my last post I wrote that we should start by controlling student visa over stays. That would be a starting point.

The big problem facing our nation is the overflow of illegals from Mexico and Central America. Here is how I would deal with this problem:

The first priority is to close the borders. This would stop the flow of new immigrants into the United States. The simplest way is to take all the proposed new hires that the Obama administration has labeled for the IRS to monitor Obamacare and instead hire these people for the border patrol. Sounds too easy, that's why congress probably will not do it. With the leaks stopped on the border we can concentrate on the other aspects of illegal immigration.

Keep tuned as I will write more on the subject.

Pray for our service people.

A solution to illegal immigration

Hi

One of the biggest problems facing the national security of the United States is the problem of illegal immigration. This problem is intensified because neither political party seems willing to come to any type of acceptable solution. At this point I would like to chip in my two cents worth.

The problem is multifaceted because it involves people physically in the country who come from all over the world. In order to solve a problem one must first identify the problem and then deal with it.

In order to deal with the illegal immigration problem the main thrust should be adequate law enforcement.

The easiest task is fixing students over staying education visas. Here we can mandate the colleges and universities help by reporting any student who enrolls on a visa and then forgoes going to class. The college reports to the Immigration Service and the person is picked up and summarily deported. Like all the solutions that I will offer this one relies on prompt, cooperative and competent enforcement of the law. The colleges must be made to cooperate.

For the next few posts I will address other aspects of the illegal immigration issue. Please bear with me. Thank you.

One other request which I have is that you pray for our service people.

Unemployment and illegal aliens

Hi

It makes sense that one can tie the subjects of unemployment and illegal immigration so here we go. It also makes common sense that if you allow an unchecked flow of illegal immigration into the country there will be a great effect on unemployment. How come I can see this but our elected officials cannot?

We hear the argument that illegals fill the positions that American workers don't want, but I say that premise is false. It is difficult to believe that some one who wants to work would not be willing to accept a job outside his chosen profession. Remember the old adage, "Bread is required on the table."

The solution is simple, rein in illegal immigration. We cannot just deport all the illegals, it would be impracticable and costly. We need a different solution. In previous blogs I have written about the so called tag-up rule. Under this concept all illegals must return to their native country, get clearance from the police that they are not wanted felons and they must also get a medical statement stating that they have no serious communicable disease. Armed with these documents the illegals then apply for entry into the United States. We control the number. If there is a need for labor we can increase the entry number for illegals (who would now be here legally) and we could even direct them to where the work force is needed. Every body wins. Both sides of the political aisle bear blame for the crazy situation we now have, maybe both sides should now get together and correct the situation.

Please remember our brave service people in your prayers.

Liberalism as a religion - continued

Hi

This blog is being written to illustrate what I mean by liberalism is a religion. The Cardinal of the diocese of Los Angeles has said that he considers not giving illegal immigrants public paid health care is immoral. I agree with him on one point, I too would like to see all insured. Here is where we part company. I do not believe it is immoral not to give publicly funded health care to illegals. The reason for this difference is that we look at the issue from different views. The Cardinal looks at the problem and sees a moral issue,I see a political one. My belief is that Christianity does not say that the government has the right to steal my money (taxes) and give it to some one else. I don't profess to know as much about religion as the Cardinal. but I never remembered reading Christ teaching anything about levying taxes in order to be charitable. Maybe I missed that class but I doubt it.

Now to tie the issue of liberal thinking and religious thinking together we go back to my earlier statement. The Cardinal thinks in terms of everything should be equal, clearly a liberal idea, whereas I feel that the only thing people should have granted to them is THE OPPORTUNITY to succeed. If I am wrong I wish that some one would explain to me why. If you don't agree with me give me an e-mail and tell me why. I certainly would appreciate it.

Meanwhile continue to pray for our soldiers and sailors.

More problems with illegal immigration

Hi

In my last blog I talked about how illegal immigration will lead to rationing of medical care, today I will talk about the effect on our culture.

Most illegal immigrants want to come to the United States for economic reasons which is a good cause. We should welcome people like this but only if we make it a legal entry. We do not need to foster a culture based on sneaking and undercover hiding to "import people". It does no body any good.

The argument is always being put forth, they want to work and immigrants were the ones who made this country grow. First, let me answer, yes, we need immigrants, but I emphasize we need these people legally.

My next point is that when immigrants come here without a real chance at life, they may survive. The first wave is driven and will sustain themselves. The problem lies in the children of these immigrants. These are the young people who will be born in ghettos and schooled in inner city schools. This is a drain on society and it does not do the children of immigrant parents any good. These second generation people will almost never get ahead and will perpetuate poverty. Poverty leads to social abuses, drug use, crime, high unemployment, etc. Is this what we want. I certainly hope not. By using some good legislation we can create a good environment for people, come on politicians, do some thing good for a change. Don't act to cater to people just to get elected. Give these people a real chance at life. That is the real Christian thing to do.

Another Christian act is to pray for our brave service people.

Illegal immigration and the effect on medical coverage

Hi

Today I will try to tie the problem of illegal immigration to another hot topic, namely, medical coverage.

As you know the politicos and pundits have been throwing a lot of numbers around concerning the uninsured in the United States. The liberal answer is the usual horse and pony solution, throw the money of the taxpayer at the problem. Well, I think we taxpayers are sick and tired of politicians throwing our money to solve some of the problems of some one else. Give us a break.

If we analyze the effect of the liberal solution what are we buying? More patients for doctors to treat, but where does this extra service fit in? The plan does not call for more doctors or health care providers to offset the surge in patients. That leaves us with one possible solution, government control over which doctor does what, who studies what in medical school. and countless other inane attempts at a solution. Read, rationing of health care. If health care is rationed who do you think will suffer most, you got it, the elderly. We are the most vulnerable segment of society. But we do have a say, namely at the ballot box. Elderly have traditionally voted more often than most other groups, now if we concentrate this vote, there is no limit to what we can achieve. Don't listen to the AARP because they have become an arm of the liberal establishment. We elderly have many years of experience and we should use the logic that time has given us to figure out who to vote for, there is no need to follow another lobby group. We can protect ourselves from the Washington bureaucrats.

Please join me in prayer for our troops.

More on illegal immigration

Hi

I started to express my views on illegal immigration and now I would like to add to the subject. Before I go any further I would like to emphasize that I refer to ILLEGAL immigration, I think we need a controlled immigration policy. What we don't need is a flood of refugees crossing our borders at will.

Having said that I refer to some of my earlier blogs in which I express my prior reference for the "touch up" method of border control. Couple a good immigration policy with the flat tax and you have the best of two worlds. Legal immigrants can come into the United States and work and share the American dream. They can hold their heads high knowing they are both bettering themselves and welcomed by the natives. This is desirous because it is what our nation prospered on, a good work ethic and hope for the future. We can recapture that feeling and share it with our new wave of immigrants.

I refer to a flat tax as a condition of alleviating the immigration problem. If we had a flat tax the workers who immigrate to the United States would have more disposable income to spend. When they purchase goods and services they would be paying a share of our tax revenue source. Currently no body knows how much of current earnings goes "south", that is off the books and hence untaxed. Even the government gains under this system.

Another aspect of this type of solution is that the stigma attached to illegal is removed. Most of the back lash would be neutered. Again, we all gain.

There is a down side, the politicians cannot buy votes with phony legislation which benefits illegal immigrants. The politicos would have to prove themselves in order to get reelected. Hey, maybe this isn't a down side. Let's hope and pray we get some good meaningful legislation from our elected officials. Stay tuned, more to come.

Pray for our brave service people.

Illegal imigration - How to solve it

Hi

In my previous blogs I have spelled out a type of plan that would solve the illegal alien problem. Now I would like to go over my thoughts on why this is such a necessary step. To begin with, both major political parties are acting like ostriches, hiding their heads in the sand. Come on guys (and gals) get with it, do something, "lead, follow, or get out of the way". We, the American people deserve this.

Specifically, I would point out that not doing anything is the same as importing the poverty which exists in the nations which are giving us these illegals. We need immigration but at what price, certainly not the price of what is being shoved down our throats.

Already there is a cadre of immigration lawyers and leaders echoing the talking points, "give them amnesty, they are only here to do the jobs the Americans don't want". My feeling is to give these people jobs but with one big difference, dignity. Amnesty merely makes another sub class of citizens, something we already have enough of.

These so called "champions of the Latinos" are mostly demigods and charlatans. They are interested in becoming the national spokesperson of the Latinos. The new Reverend Jesse Jackson or Reverend Al Sharpton. They make money but the poor people (Latinos) suffer living in poverty, no health care , etc. Why, because these people are not trained for jobs that will pay them enough to prosper. I know most of my conservative friends (the people called anti=immigration by the media) want these people to have the same chance at the American dream that was given to all previous classes of immigrants. The new wave of immigrants will work and become responsible citizens but the so called leaders must be pushed aside and let the people thrive. Ever hear of people power? Let's hope and pray that our politicians do some creative legislating and come up with a fair and equitable solution. The Latino immigrants and the rest of us deserve this.

Now I ask you to remember our brave service people in your prayers.
GOD Bless
